Introduction and Design
The Xiaomi Redmi 5 is the latest offering from the Chinese smartphone maker. The device, which succeeds the Redmi 4A ships with more or less identical specifications at an affordable price.
Regarding design, the handset sports a metal unibody design with a rear-mounted fingerprint reader which has been a trademark of Redmi devices.
Display and Camera
The Redmi 5 flaunts a 5.7-inch HD+ display which combined with decent viewing angles offers good legibility even when placed under bright sunlight.
For imaging, the smartphone has a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter that you can use for video calling and selfies. At the back, the handset comes with a 12-megapixel rear camera which one can use for capturing images and videos in both dark and bright conditions thanks to the presence of an LED flash.
Performance and Battery
One of the important points of the smartphone is that the device hosts a big battery. To keep things running, the smartphone is equipped with a Li-Po 3,300mAh battery that can easily keep the device functioning for 24 hours.
Under the hood, the device is powered by a 1.8GHz octa-core Snapdragon 450 chipset which is coupled with 2GB of RAM to make sure that users experience a smooth and lag-free smartphone experience.
Storage and Connectivity
Connectivity options that come along with the Redmi 5 include 4G, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, and a microUSB 2.0 port.
For storing media files and other data, the handset ships with an internal storage space of 16GB which can be further expanded using a microSD card.
